Bad Habit

I'm going to be completely vulnerable with you about the rollercoaster of running a business. Lately, the travel booking side of my life has been completely quiet. No travelers booking trips, no new inquiries, nothing. And in this line of work, no bookings means absolutely no checks coming in. Naturally, the worry started creeping in. I went into absolute overdrive mode—heavy posting, non-stop advertising, updating layouts, doing every single thing humanly possible to drum up business. When I finished doing all I could do... there was still nothing but silence. So, I did what a lot of us do when stress takes over: I sat down, started counting my coins, and let depression completely wash over me. I was so heavy that the next day, I didn't even want to get out of bed. I just stayed under the covers, staring at the ceiling, feeling defeated. Then, the clock hit 11:10 AM, and my phone started ringing. It was Von. She had just stepped off a cruise that I booked for her a while back. She called me completely energized, raving about how amazing her trip was, and said she was ready to immediately start planning the next one. We originally met through the business, but we talk like we’ve been friends for a long time. Hearing her voice completely shattered the heavy cloud over my head. As soon as we hung up, I had to sit back and ask myself: Why do I keep doing this to myself? Why do I let myself spiral into panic when I already know deep down in my soul that there is a master plan for my life already written? We talk a big game about surrendering our worries. We lay our stress, our financial fears, and our anxieties down at the altar and say, "I'm letting this go." But then, the minute things don't happen on our exact timeline, we sneak right back up to the altar, pick those same heavy burdens right back up, and carry them back to bed with us. Doing your part means executing the work, but it also means having the strength to stop obsessing once the work is done. You cannot force a seed to grow by staring at the dirt and crying. If you did everything you could do today, your only job left is to put it down and walk away. Trust that the phone call is coming. Trust that the plan is already working in your favor behind the scenes. Stop counting the coins and start protecting your peace of mind. Keep moving. Keep praying. Keep believing sister.
