Church

Today at church, we were given a simple prompt; write down the very first thing that comes to mind about yourself. Without overthinking my pen hit the paper and I wrote four raw words: "broken but still trying." That was just the honest truth sitting on my heart in that moment.
My daughter was sitting right next to me. I glanced at her paper and she wrote "I am great." She really is y'all. In my eyes she is absolute perfection! But then she looked over at my paper saw what I wrote and immediately reached over to grab my hand.
Of course after a minute my hand got hot due to these personal summers ugh so I had to let go for a second to grab my fan. She patiently gave me my moment to cool off, and then sweet as can be she reached back over and put her hand right back in mine. OMG at that exact moment I felt like every single bit of it was worth it. All the pain, all the heartache, and every heavy season I’ve carried felt completely worth it. When I am in a vulnerable place a gentle touch like that will make me break down, and I just couldn't hold back the tears today. Thank goodness I had my tissues restocked in my purse! The sermon was awesome but honestly I was drowning in whole new territory of deep healing. Seeing my baby girl recognize my brokenness and offer pure unconditional love without saying a single word reminded me why parents keep standing. We don't have to be perfect mothers to raise compassionate children. Keep showing up for your family.
Now go pray through it...don't just go through it!
